Gothic horror.

Today in Kat's lesson, we had an introduction to Claudia, Quentin and mrs Lederman characters based on 12 TV shows.

•The Walking Dead
•American Horror Story
•Dexter
•True Blood
•Bates Motel
•Buffy the Vampire Slayer
•Vampire Diaries
•Penny Dreadful
•In the Flesh
•Being Human
•Hemlock Grove
•Hannibal

We also discussed topics such as the target audience and why people love Gothic horror.

Target audience
Statistics show that the women love the Gothic horror more than men, this could be because women like the adrenaline of fear. statistic show that women that watch horror films range from 18 to 49 and for me it rages from 14 to 35.

But why do we love Gothic horror? well in discussion today in Kat's lesson a few reasons come up. those include

fascination of the supernatural

facing the monster within us

  • fascination with the supernatural ( we all tend to acknowledge the supernatural when we cannot explain the wearied thing that might happen in us)
  • one might like to be scared (some people love to be scared, it is a will know fact that youth will pay money to visit a hunted house or even something less supernatural like going and a scary ride)
  • fascination with death ( most people are fascinated by death because we all know that we are heading that way)
  • hope for salvation ( the christian faith is very big on this. as we human being we all look to someone or someone to help use. in  horror films there is that hope of a survivor at the end that becomes a hero)
  • identifying the inhuman side of mankind. ( some say we all have the eval side in use, so un horror films we get to see that side more)
  • facing the monster within mankind ( in most horror films we tend to see the extreme eval of man)
the hope for salvation
